Newen is pursuing its development
with the aim of becoming the European leader in production and distribution.


Newen France

Newen France, headed by Vincent Meslet and Guillaume Thouret, is the French subsidiary of Newen Group. It is the leading producer of fiction in France, with more than 1000 hours produced in 2020, a unique expertise on daily soap operas (Plus belle la vie, Demain nous appartient, Ici tout commence), a strong ability to carry important projects through its 25 labels. Newen France is also the leading producer of documentaries with more than 80 programs produced per year.

Blue Spirit

Blue Spirit (a Newen Group company since 2017), created and chaired by Eric Jacquot, has been producing and manufacturing animated series and feature films since 2004.

Since 2006, the production structure, headed by Armelle Glorennec, has developed and produced 80 hours of programs, winning the “PROCIREP French Television Producer” and Producer of the Year award in 2017 at Cartoon Movie. Notable productions include the Oscar-nominated My Life as a Zucchini, winner of the César Award for Best Animated Film, and the sequel to the cult series The Mysterious Cities of Gold (3 seasons).

Blue Spirit also acts as an executive producer and/or service provider on projects headed by French and foreign producers as well as U.S. majors and platforms. Blue Spirit studios are based in Paris, Angoulême and Montreal.



In February 2017, Newen acquired a majority stake in the capital of Tuvalu Media Group, the Netherlands’ leading independent production group.
Tuvalu is well-known among Dutch broadcasters for its creativity and the quality of its productions. Among its top programmes are The First Years, Raising the nation, Maestro (BBC format) and Small town, big city.


In August 2018, Newen acquired a majority stake in the capital of Pupkin via Tuvalu in order to expand its global footprint.
Created in 2003 under the direction of producers Pieter Kuijpers, Iris Otten and Sander van Meurs, Pupkin is one of the Netherland’s top film and TV drama production studios. Its films and series have won awards at various festivals and been sold internationally, with themes ranging from crime to more family-focussed subjects. Via Tuvalu Media Group (the Dutch production company owned by Newen), Newen acquired 60% of Pupkin, thereby consolidating Tuvalu Media Group’s position on the Dutch market, where it is now the number three player, with an activity balanced between non-scripted entertainment and drama series.



At the same time, Newen acquired a stake in the capital of Nimbus.
Created in 1993 by Bo Ehrhardt and Birgitte Hald, Nimbus is one of Denmark’s top production studios. It started out in cinema with numerous successes both critical (such as Festen, Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival) and commercial (the Antboy trilogy), before branching into TV series (with notably The Bridge, one of the most widely sold and adapted Danish/Swedish series in the world). Nimbus also has a significant catalogue, which is a source of adaptation rights, and access to Scandinavian formats and talent for its production activities. For the time being, Newen’s stake in Nimbus amounts to 33%. The two groups have now begun to explore the possibility of new projects in drama (which Newen would distribute) and animation (with plans for Blue Spirit to adapt the Antboy franchise).

Real Lava

REAL LAVA is an independent production company based in Copenhagen/Denmark founded by Oscar nominated producer Sigrid Dyekjaer and Newen Studios. The company produces high profile cinematic documentaries and tv-series with a focus on creative collaborations with international directors, writers and producers that have a unique voice, a high artistic ambition and share the passion for the art of visual storytelling.


De Mensen

In February 2019, Newen is acquiring 60% of majority stake in De Mensen, one of Belgium’s leading producers of scripted and unscripted audiovisual content, founded in April 2001. De Mensen creates content for public and private channels in Belgium, for platforms like Netflix and for numerous international clients attracted by the various formats the company offers, with a a wide range of content including game shows (Blokken, in its 13th season), travel programs (Reizen Waes) and drama (Beau Séjour, Salamander and Professor T, all broadcast in or adapted for several European countries, and more recently, Undercover, which attracted close to 50% of viewers on its first airing in Flanders).

De Mensen has several subsidiaries: Skyline Entertainment, Gardner and Domm, Het Laatste Bedrijf, Gallop Tax Shelter and the Virus and also a presence going back several years in French-speaking Belgium through the Brussels-based production house Les Gens, of which it owns 100%.


Reel One

In July 2019, Newen has acquired a majority stake in Reel One, a leading player in the production and licensing of scripted content for the North American and global markets
Based in Montreal with offices in London, Los Angeles and Vancouver, Reel One develops, finances, produces and markets telefilms and series for a global audience. Formed in 2001 by media entrepreneur Tom Berry, Reel One is one of the most dynamic independent players in audiovisual production and licensing.

United Kingdom

Ringside Studios

In February 2020, Newen launches a new UK production company, Ringside Studios, a collaboration with the English producer, Gub Neal and DoveTale Media. English dramas market is a key segment worldwide.
Ringside Studios will develop high quality English and international dramas, which could be distributed by Newen. Several projects already under advanced development.



With more than 25 years of experience, iZen Group is one of the largest Spanish independent production group. It has developed projects for Amazon, Netflix, TVE, TVG, CanalSur, ÀPunt, CMM, and many more.
IzenGroup has a vast experience in producing fiction, both original content and adapting international shows.

Flare Film

Flare Film is an independent German film production company established by Martin Heisler in 2008 dedicated to produce high-quality features, documentaries and – via its subsidy Flare Entertainment – series for the domestic and international market. Founder and shareholder Martin Heisler serves as managing director alongside Maxim Juretzka. Flare Film’s successful titles include the multi-award winning documentaries WALCHENSEE FOREVER by Janna Ji Wonders, BERLIN BOUNCER by David Dietl, VERGISS MEIN NICHT by David Sieveking, as well as the award-winning feature films KIDS RUN by Barbara Ott, ONE OF THESE DAYS by Bastian Günther, LOMO by Julia Langhof) and MORRIS AUS AMERICA by Chat Hartigan.
